Toadlet Migration Surveys. Mid-June to mid-August. Hike the Four Lakes Trail in Alice Lake Provincial Park, keeping an eye out for migrating baby toads. No experience necessary.
What
Watch for toadlets (baby toads) while hiking a well-marked trail that winds through the coastal forest and past several lakes. Take photos and report sightings via iNaturalist, or by dropping a pin on your preferred trail app. Sign-up is via an online scheduling app. The 6km trail has a 150m elevation gain and takes about 2 hours to hike.
Where
Alice Lake Provincial Park, 12 km north of downtown Squamish. Please note that there is no public transportation to the park, so participants will need a vehicle or bike to get there.
When
- Surveys run from late June through mid-August
- Go early morning (7AM-9AM) or evening (6PM-8PM)
- Each survey takes about 2 hours
